1.  Bought this Angry Bird set for Jay's classmate.

Price = RMB48; Local Delivery = RMB10; Sub-Total = RMB58; Equal SGD$11.53

In Malaysia, I saw one of the shop selling around MYR100.  I bought one for Jay from Suntec city, about SGD$25.

2.  I made a mistake this time of buying this.  I was not thinking right, as the board is quite heavy.  And it is about 75% of the entire weight.  So, it cost on the International delivery.  You have to be saving substantially in order to overcome the International delivery rate.

Price = RMB 59.40; Local Delivery = RMB 10; Sub-Total = RMB 69.40; Equals SGD$13.80

I saw it quite cute, and I wanted to buy one to fix it at the washing area so that I can put my IT stuffs there.

3.  There is another Angry Birds I bought.  Also give to Jay's classmate.  This is the smaller version.  I actually bought two sets.

Price = RMB 18.80 x 2; Local Delivery = RMB 10; Sub-Total = RMB 52.60; Equals SGD$5.23 /Each

4.  I also bought some Taobao Magazines...

These are B2C magazines... And these gives you pretty good idea on how Taobao works, and gives you idea of what to buy.

Many asked how much does it cost buying stuffs from Taobao.  So, for the above entire shipment 1-3.  Here are the break down...  Assuming Exchange Rate is RMB 1 ==> SGD$0.213

1.  TOTAL COST OF GOODS (Includes Local Delivery) == RMB 1,526.40      ====> SGD$325.12

2.  8% Buying Agent (CinaGoods) Service Fees              == RMB 122.11         ====> SGD$26.01

3.  International Delivery  (2 Boxs, 13KG + 6.5KG)           == RMB1,254.00      ====> SGD$267.10

=========> SUB-TOTAL   ====> SGD$618.24

4.  Insurance (Optional) which is 5% of Total Cost           == SGD$30.91

5.  GRAND TOTAL paid                                                         == SGD$649.15

Notes:

A.  As I said, I made a big mistake of buying that book shelve board without properly checking the shipping weight.  So, the weight is about 5KG, which cost me around RMB400 International Shipping which is a bad buy.  Well, sometimes, you will need to make such mistake to learn.  So, a rule of thumb, always buy light material, not heavy furniture stuffs.

B.  In my above example (which is a bad example) It cost estimated 50% of shipping cost for all the goods.  But, if you take the furniture out, the shipping ratio is about 30% of the total payment which is alright.

C.  Questions always arise what does the Insurrance cover?  The optional 5% insurrance.  The agent will pay 5% of the actual goods to the EMS to buy insurrance.  But EMS will normally not pay you back in full amount inssured.  They probably will pay about 30%-40% max.  But Cinagoods will take the risk and pay you back 100% in case of the package has missing in China.  If the package is proved to be delivered outside China, and enter your country, and it went missing, then, Cinagoods will not cover that.  This is quite rare for Singapore.  I am not sure about other countries.  When I buy, I always include that.

D.  The ratio of International shipping may be quite high if it is 30-40% of total payment.  But if you compare the price you are paying retail to buy it here in Singapore, there is still a good 30-50% savings on these goods.  So. you feel good about it.  :)
